I learned from my mother to make a simple salad dressing that uses ingredients you probably always have on hand. I don't have an actual recipe, so I just eyeball the amount needed of each ingredient. I take one part sugar, two parts vinegar, and three parts vegetable oil and whisk together in a bowl or shake in a glass shaker like shown here. Then I add a generous amount of ketchup to make it a fairly thick dressing. Shake well and serve on tossed salad greens. It's so simple but tastes so tangy.
