Impressive Baked Bananas!A little over 30 years ago, I can vividly remember having a scrumptious and impressive dessert in a restaurant in Georgetown outside Washington, D.C. It was cooked tableside by our waiter and it was called Bananas Foster. I can still recall the excitement when he lit that brandy! When you're hungry for this dessert, here is a way to make a single serving of this great recipe.
Halve the banana lengthwise. Place both sides in a soaked clay banana baker. Sprinkle with lemon juice and brown sugar. Dot with butter. Cover the baker with its soaked lid and place it in a COLD oven (do not preheat). Set oven at 425 degrees and bake for 30 - 35 minutes or until the sugar has melted. Remove from the oven and pour brandy over banana. Carefully ignite the brandy. When flames have subsided, transfer to serving dish and top with whipped cream or ice cream. Enjoy! |

Simply soak the Romertopf in water for 5-10 minutes, submerse top and bottom. Place the ingredients inside and put the whole pot into a regular, cold oven. No need to preheat! Also from Romertopf are beautiful matching terra cotta pieces to impress your dinner guests. Check both the sunflower and grapes carved designs in our wine coolers and wine carafe. |
